Meeting Space - Bridge

The Dinning table design is based on the idea of working apart together. My design is an individual dinning table with two benches connecting to it. The continuity of the dinning table conveys the idea of coexistence between the two different powers. The dinning table invites the clients from two totally different fields, come together, being in a state of proper equilibrium.

Prada's elevator is designed based on the color concepts, the openings project a shifting shadow into the interior space throughout different time during the day. The color is simple as white but the light and personal possessions would add the color.

Bridge - Meeting Space

The bridge/meeting space is still under construction. The architectural approach for the meeting space is to achieve a sense of coexistence between the two clients. The bridge will be the focal point that not only brings Obama and Prada together to share their personalities, but provides them with power to discuss and draw common interests out of their own careers - politic and fashion.

To achieve a sense of coexistence, large open spaces are created to keep the space overwhelming and neutral, hence when the two power meets, they are actually standing on the same level and ground.

Motion/Fashion/Simplicity/Light/Exchange

Interior Perspective

Prada's space represents a strong sense of movement. To emphasis the power of motion, the building is divided into a series of rooms (only from exterior view) which look like they are moving into any directions. The use of simple geometry and materials are based on the simplicity of Prada's products - sleek leather and dark to light range of colors.

The white walls and the gaps created by different heights of the ceilings ensure the natural light penetrates deep into the exhibition space. The effect of the light is heavily emphasized so that the inhabitants can experience numerous variations in the light. The differences in light and dark spots ensure that diversity is achieved in the spaces.

Elevator for Prada's space: The elevator has multiple-purposes. When the elevator is still, it can be occupied as a space - an element within the building. As a moving object, it allows the passengers to travel from one spot to another, which emphasises on the importance of exchange between the interior and exterior spaces.

Interrelationship/Interaction/Continuity/Floating


The design concept behind Obama's space is the interrelationship and interaction between an individual and the public. The curved- shell spaces are made out of cement and steel which operate as public hall. The three timber structures are Obama's office, which divided into three parts: speech hall, meeting/social room and main office.

The shell-like structures are symmetrical, each structure differs in length, height and curvature.

To create a sense of interrelationship, I managed to avoid internal walls, the change in landscape and form, differentiates the various spaces in the building, resulting in the possibility of a comfort distance among the President Obama and the public and a sense of both sharing and privacy. Daylight comes in through the openings, which highlights the different spaces. In this way, emphasis is laid on those spaces without destroying the continuity of the building as a whole. The openings make both the President and the public conscious of the weather conditions outside. The shell structures become a part of the external surroundings provide flexibility - in this case, they become a part of the bridge/meeting space roof.
